CALMA is the name and practice of Carlos Alberto Lopez Montes Arango. Born in Beacon, New York and raised in Broward County, Florida, he has lived in South Florida since before Hurricane Andrew. A veteran of fifteen years in the United States military, CALMA draws from personal experience with structure, movement, and the machinery of modern life.

Rooted in his Colombian heritage, his work embraces magical realism, finding beauty and weight in everyday moments. Through layered and impulsive painting, CALMA explores the space between chaos and control, seeking calm within the noise.
